Kenya Re names Erick Gumbo as new Chairman of the Board
Kenya Reinsurance Corporation’s(Kenya Re) board has elected Mr. Erick Onyango Gumbo as the chairman of the board, effective June 23, 2025.
The announcement was made by the company secretary Charles Kariuki in accordance with the Corporation’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.
Mr. Gumbo is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya and currently the Managing Partner at G&A Advocates LLP.
He holds a Bachelors of Laws degree and postgraduate studies in Fintech Law and Policy from Duke University, Financial Markets from Yale University, Advanced Legal Drafting from the International Law Institute (ILI) as well as Privacy Law and Data Protection from the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. Gumbo is also a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
In the practice of law, he has over the last 21 years successfully represented parties in some of the most contentious public interest cases.
He has also advised leading private and public sector actors including government agencies both locally and in the region.
The Corporation will continue providing sustainable risk and financial solutions to ensure seamless stability to its clients while also growing its shareholders value, the company said.
Kenya Reinsurance Corporation Limited (Kenya Re) is the oldest Reinsurer in Eastern and Central Africa.
It was established through an Act of Parliament in December 1970 and commenced business in January 1971.
Since its inception, Kenya Re has progressively and consistently continued to provide reinsurance services to more than 482 companies spread out in over 83 countries in Africa, Middle East and Asia.
