Speaking at Chebukwa Catholic Church on Sunday, June 8, Lusaka observed that the heightened political temperatures currently being witnessed across the country are typical of an election season where an incumbent seeks re-election.

“After all is said and done, President Ruto will still emerge victorious despite the opposition he is facing,” Lusaka said.

Lusaka drew parallels with past elections, citing the cases of former Presidents Mwai Kibaki in 2007 and Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017. Both faced stiff opposition but managed to secure second terms.

“Kibaki performed well during his first term yet faced intense resistance from the opposition—but he still won. If Ruto could defeat a combined force of Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga, I don’t see him losing in the coming elections,” the Bungoma governor asserted.

The governor further stated that, given the current political climate, former prime minister Raila Odinga remains the only politician in the country with the ability to pose a significant challenge to the leader of the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.

However, he pointed out that with both the ODM leader and President Ruto now collaborating within a broad-based government, the outcome of the upcoming election already seems inevitable.

Additionally, the former Senate speaker urged political leaders to adopt mature, issue-focused politics and avoid engaging in divisive rhetoric.

“We must move away from politics of insults, threats, and tribal posturing. Kenyans deserve better,” he said.

In other news, Senate Majority Leader and senator of Kericho county, Aaron Cheruiyot, rubbished claims that Ruto will be a one-term president.

During the Madaraka Day celebrations on Sunday, June 1, in Homa Bay County, Cheruiyot downplayed the viral 'wantam' slogan.

Cheruiyot, a close ally of the president, said the majority of Kenyans, especially those in the rural areas, appreciate the excellent work being done by Ruto's administration.

He labelled the 'Wantam' proponents as noisemakers and idlers who have nothing meaningful to offer the country.

In other news, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi slammed former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua for criticising the Kenya Kwanza government.

During the Kapseret Constituency Economic Empowerment, Sudi rebuked Gachagua for always speaking ill about the president.

The Kasperet lawmaker further warned the former deputy president that the Kenya Kwanza government would impeach him for a second time.

According to the outspoken lawmaker, Ruto's allies will oust Gachagua in the Mt Kenya region. z
