Kelce Scores, Swift Cheers: A Pop Culture Touchdown Moment

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce had a significant reason for celebration during the game against the Washington Commanders on Monday, October 27th, especially with musical superstar Taylor Swift present in the crowd. Kelce achieved a remarkable milestone, scoring his 100th career touchdown. This particular score also marked his 83rd regular-season touchdown, a feat that tied him with legendary Chiefs player Priest Holmes for the most in the franchise's history.
Following his record-tying touchdown in the end zone, Kelce appeared to replicate the distinctive choreography from his famous fiancée Taylor Swift’s hit song, "The Fate of Ophelia." Emulating Swift’s movements from the music video for the Billboard Hot 100-topping track, Kelce closed his hands into fists and moved his arms up and down in a celebratory dance. From her box suite in the upper level of Arrowhead Stadium, the 14-time Grammy winner was seen excitedly cheering for his achievement.
The moment quickly resonated with fans, with many taking to social media to express their delight. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) enthusiastically commented, "He really gave us the whole dance (TD version) AND IM SO GRATEFUL." Another fan pointed out an even more specific detail, asking, "Omggg he even did the ‘I pledge allegiance’ part??" This referenced a lyric from "The Fate of Ophelia": "Pledge allegiance to your hands, your team, your vibes." Even the official account for Travis and his older brother Jason Kelce’s popular "New Heights" podcast acknowledged the moment, sharing a photo of Travis Kelce's big catch and writing, "Keep it [100] on the land, the sea, and the end zone," a clear nod to Swift's lyrics.
Kelce’s impressive milestone coincided with another major success for Taylor Swift. Her new album, also titled "The Fate of Ophelia," was spending its third consecutive week at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The album’s significant success is partly attributed to the viral popularity of its title track, "The Fate of Ophelia," which inspired a widespread TikTok dance trend after Swift herself shared videos of the choreography on the app.
Despite her demanding schedule with the album rollout and her ongoing Eras Tour, the pop star has been a consistent presence at her fiancé’s games throughout the season. At Monday's match-up, she was seen sporting a red turtleneck, a matching leather skirt, and heeled boots, watching the game alongside Brittany Mahomes, who is married to Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. At one point during the game, Swift was observed acting out a swooning gesture, possibly in response to an exciting play by Travis on the field. Speaking to the press shortly after the game, Travis Kelce reflected on scoring his record-tying touchdown, which also positioned him as only the fifth tight end in NFL history to reach three digits in total touchdowns. He shared his sentiments about the moment, stating, "I just cherish these moments, man, being able to play at Arrowhead." He further added, "This place is special, man, and I love it here. In terms of the historical stuff, I’m still looking at the next game and the next catch and trying to get better."
