Kayode Peters' burial rites to be held in Lagos, London, Toronto - TheCable Lifestyle
Peters last month after a prolonged illness.
In a shared on Instagram, his family expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and outlined the schedule for his final rites.
The statement stated that the nights of tribute will be held in Lagos and London in the United Kingdom on July 22 and 29, respectively while burial service and internment will take place in Toronto, Canada, on August 2.
It added that the exact venues and times of the events will be communicated later.
“As we prepare to lay our beloved Kayode Peters to rest, from the depths of our hearts, THANK YOU,” the post reads.
“In the midst of this heartbreaking loss, your love, prayers, messages, calls, visits, support, and every gesture of kindness have wrapped us in comfort.
“Upcoming dates and locations of events – Night of Tribute [Lagos] – [22nd July 2025], Night of Tribute [London] – [29th July 2025], Burial Service & Internment [Toronto] – [2nd August 2025].”
Peters was a celebrated figure in Nigeria’s contemporary theatre and television industry.
He gained widespread recognition as the creator of the hit comedy series ‘Flatmates’ in the early 2000s and also worked on stage plays and sitcoms like ‘Extended Family’.
He won the Best Director (International) award for the movie ‘Survivors’ at the 2024 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival (TINFF).
He was also regarded as a key figure in Nigeria’s contemporary theatre and television industry.
