Katy Perry's Daring New Video: Pop Star Cheats Death in a Vulnerable Epic

Katy Perry has released her new music video for “Bandaids,” her first solo single of 2025, which premiered on Thursday night, November 6. The track highlights Perry’s emotional vulnerability as she reflects on her journey in the spotlight, with lyrics like “If I had to do it all over again. I would still do it all over again.” The visual narrative for “Bandaids” portrays the pop star facing numerous near-death experiences and hurdles, showcasing her resilience as she continues to push forward despite life’s challenges.
The video features a series of harrowing events: Perry nearly gets her shoelace caught in an escalator at the Puente Hills Mall, is electrocuted at a car charging station, experiences an explosion during a coffee date, avoids a car accident due to a faulty GPS, and finds herself stuck on a third rail with an oncoming train. After escaping the train tracks, she falls into a muddy sinkhole. Overwhelmed by these consecutive misfortunes, Perry decides to use her dirt-stained clothes and money to buy a pack of cigarettes, finding a moment of relatable processing as she lights one up.
“Bandaids” also marks Katy Perry’s launch into a new musical era, following her 2024 album “143,” which debuted at No. 6 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Concurrently, Perry is continuing her successful “Lifetimes Tour,” which began in Mexico City in April and has already grossed over $80 million from its U.S., Canada, and Australia legs. She is currently concluding the European leg with shows in France and Spain, before heading to China later this month, with the tour culminating in Abu Dhabi on December 7.
