Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Engagement Called Off

The nearly decade-long relationship between pop superstar Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom has officially come to an end, according to sources speaking to Us Weekly. Rumors had been circulating for months, culminating in the confirmation of their split. While Katy Perry is reportedly upset, she is also said to be relieved, having previously endured a difficult divorce from comedian Russell Brand. Insiders revealed that the separation was “a long time coming,” with tensions between the couple having been palpable for several months. Perry is currently “keeping busy” and “distracted” by her ongoing Lifetimes Tour, which commenced in April.

A significant sign of the couple’s changing dynamic emerged with the revelation that Katy Perry has rented out her Westcott Estate in Montecito, California. This mansion was initially intended to be the family home she shared with Bloom and their four-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, who was welcomed in 2020. The decision to rent out the property to actor Chris Pratt and his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger, is particularly surprising given Perry’s past efforts and substantial legal fees invested in acquiring the estate from an ailing veteran. While the arrangement suits Pratt, sources noted the irony of Perry not living in a home she had fought so hard to secure, especially after suggesting it was ideal for raising a family with Bloom. The couple had reportedly been living apart since Perry began her tour, despite their Montecito residence previously serving as their primary home.

The relationship had faced its share of challenges over the years. Perry and Bloom had previously split in 2017. In a 2024 appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, Perry reflected on that initial breakup, stating that they “weren't really in it from day one,” attributing it to Bloom’s recent period of celibacy and her own need for a different relationship dynamic after a prior breakup. Their wedding plans were also postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of new variants.

Further insights into their difficulties came from Orlando Bloom himself. In 2023, while lovingly describing Perry as his “baby mama and life partner,” he admitted to Flaunt Magazine that they operated in “two very different pools” of understanding. He confessed that at times, their relationship was “really, really, really challenging,” with both battling their emotions and creativity. To navigate these complexities, Katy Perry revealed in September 2024 that she and Bloom had been attending couples therapy regularly, including undergoing The Hoffman Process, a week-long therapeutic retreat. Perry noted that after Bloom completed the process, he stopped “playing this cat-mouse game” with her, a dynamic she had become accustomed to.

Another point of contention reportedly arose from Perry’s decision to embark on an all-female space trip aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin spacecraft. Despite Perry publicly gushing that Bloom was “all about the journey,” a source close to Bloom claimed the opposite, stating that he “did not approve” and never thought the mission was “a good idea.” The insider further explained that Bloom was “frustrated” and “disappointed” with her decision, anticipating the backlash she would receive. Amidst their separation, Bloom is confirmed to be attending Bezos' wedding to Sanchez solo, while Perry continues to focus on her Lifetimes Tour.
