Katy Perry & Justin Trudeau's Japan Trip Sparks Social Media Frenzy

Pop superstar Katy Perry and former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau have officially made their relationship Instagram official. On Saturday, December 6, the 41-year-old singer shared a series of photos and videos from her recent trip to Japan, prominently featuring 53-year-old Trudeau. Perry captioned the Instagram gallery with "tokyo times on tour and more," offering a glimpse into their time together.
The shared content included several intimate moments: one snapshot showed the former American Idol judge and Trudeau posing cheek-to-cheek outdoors, while another black-and-white clip captured them sharing sushi. A third image depicted the pair admiring what appeared to be a sparkly art installation, further illustrating their shared experiences in Japan.
Perry's visit to Japan was part of her ongoing Lifetimes Tour, during which she engaged in a notable social event with Trudeau. She joined him as he met with former Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and his wife, Yuko, following a formal lunch. This meeting had also been publicized earlier in the week when Kishida shared a photo on X (formerly Twitter) of the two couples smiling in front of a colorful Christmas tree in an ornately decorated room.
In his post, Kishida wrote, "Former Canadian Prime Minister @JustinTrudeau visited Japan with his partner and joined my wife and me for lunch." He expressed his delight in maintaining their friendship, recalling their numerous meetings as fellow leaders during Trudeau's time as Prime Minister. Trudeau responded in the comments, saying, "Katy and I were so glad to have the chance to sit down with you and Yuko. Thank you, Fumio, for your friendship and your continued commitment to both the international rules-based order and to a better future for everyone."
Speculation about Perry and Trudeau’s relationship had been circulating earlier in the year, with their public appearance in Paris in late October marking one of their first widely reported joint outings. The recent Instagram posts now serve as a public confirmation of their burgeoning relationship.
