KATSEYE's Megan Explodes Over Grammy Noms: Group Chat 'Blowing Up'!

The momentous news of a Grammy nomination often arrives with fanfare, but for Megan of the global girl group KATSEYE, the revelation came in a more intimate, yet equally exhilarating, fashion: through a buzzing group chat. Just hours after the Recording Academy announced the full list of nominees for the 2026 Grammy Awards, Megan exclusively told Billboard, "I woke up a little bit later so I woke up to the group chat going crazy — that’s literally how I found out." Though alone during the interview, the excitement of her bandmates was palpable through their digital communication.

KATSEYE secured two significant nominations: one for Best New Artist and another for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. For Megan, these nods serve as a powerful validation of the sextet's whirlwind journey, which began with their 2023 Dream Academy competition series. Adding to their success, their song "Gabriela" continues to climb the charts, reaching a new peak of No. 37 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. Despite the immediate elation, Megan admitted the full weight of the achievement was still sinking in. "It’s crazy, I literally woke up to the news. I think throughout the day it’s gonna settle a little bit more, but feeling super grateful," she shared.

The Best Pop Duo/Group Performance category is particularly competitive this year, featuring a lineup of superstar collaborations. KATSEYE finds itself alongside esteemed artists such as Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande for their "Wicked" duet "Defying Gravity," Kendrick Lamar and SZA with their latest track "30 for 30," ROSÉ and Bruno Mars' multicultural hit "APT.," and "Golden" from KPop Demon Hunters’ HUNTR/X group, comprising Ejae, Audrey Nuna, and Rei Ami. Megan emphasized the profound meaning of this recognition for a global girl group like KATSEYE. "With any award or nomination, it means so much to us because we work so, so hard," she stated, viewing it as a testament to their dedication. She added, "being able to get nominated with my five best friends is literally a dream come true. It’s the best feeling ever. And especially with what we represent globally, it means so much to each and every one of us."

Her happiness extended beyond KATSEYE's own success to include her fellow nominees in the Best New Artist category. Megan expressed pride in friends of the band, including Addison Rae, sombr, and Alex Warren. "It’s insane that we’re even in the same category — it’s literally crazy," the Honolulu native remarked. "But to be able to share the nomination with some of our friends like Addison, sombr and Alex, it’s really, really cool and I’m proud of each and every one of them as well." She acknowledged the talent of all nominees, including Leon Thomas and Lola Young, recognizing KATSEYE's relatively new status among such established artists.

Following the Grammy nominations reveal, KATSEYE collectively shared their gratitude on social media, stating: "We can’t even believe this is real life!! two nominations?! thank you to the Recording Academy we are truly humbled, and congrats to all the nominees today, you inspire us! we wouldn’t be here without our EYEKONS — words can’t describe how grateful we are to you." The prestigious 68th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony is scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 1, at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. In addition to the Grammy excitement, KATSEYE also released a new teaser clip today, hinting at a special announcement or event on November 11, with tags referencing the Valorant video game and its esports league, adding another layer of anticipation for their fans.
