Katie Price's Public Health Battle: Friends 'Worried' as Star Rushed to Hospital After Weight Loss

Former glamour model Katie Price's recent actions, encompassing both professional commitments and personal health, have sparked significant concern among friends and family, with many suggesting her lifestyle is spiraling 'out of control'. The 47-year-old has faced a barrage of criticism for unreliability at public events and has recently been hospitalized for unexplained rapid weight loss.

A notable incident involved her late arrival to 'An Audience With Katie Price And Kerry Katona' at Whitley Bay's The Playhouse theatre. Scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM on September 15, the show was delayed by half an hour due to 'technical difficulties'. However, Katie was still absent at 8 PM, leaving co-star Kerry Katona to perform solo initially. Katie eventually appeared via video link before arriving at the theatre around 9:35 PM, performing for just 35 minutes. She attributed her delay to heavy traffic and caring for her son, Harvey, who has complex health conditions. Fans, however, expressed fury over the brief stage time and weren't convinced by her explanation.

This incident followed closely on the heels of another controversy where Katie pulled out of a charity performance at Milton Keynes Pride's afterparty on September 13. Organizers released a statement expressing profound disappointment, claiming they were informed at extremely short notice that Katie would not attend, despite being contracted as the headline performer. They highlighted the LGBTQ+ community's 'consistent support' for Katie and found her lack of reciprocation 'deeply regrettable'. Katie cited 'filming' and 'recording her new track' as reasons for her no-show, promising to attend next year. However, her presence partying at Geordie Shore star Chloe Ferry's 30th birthday bash, where she even performed her 2017 single 'I Got U', raised eyebrows.

Friends and family have voiced substantial worries about her erratic behaviour. A source revealed, "Katie has been turning up late to events – or not turning up at all – and those close to her are worried that she might be getting out of control. They've witnessed it before. She's trying to do it all, but she's burning herself out. It doesn't seem to be sinking in." The source added that Katie's unreliability not only disappoints venues and organizers but also her fans who have paid to see her, emphasizing that punctuality has never been her strong suit and such behaviour has consequences. "Everyone around her thinks that she needs to focus on herself and get to a good place rather than to continue being on stage and working," the source concluded.

Conversely, her close friend Kerry Katona has defended Katie's actions, offering explanations for her apparent unreliability. Regarding the theatre delay, Kerry stated, "Katie had Harvey at home and a nine-hour drive to get to the show, where the traffic was mental, so I completely understood her being late. She has been on stage and working until silly hours each night so I don’t blame her at all, it was out of her control." Katona emphasized Katie's general reliability during the rest of the tour and noted that many in the audience found the late arrival amusing, especially as she participated virtually for the first half.

Adding to her challenging period, Katie Price was recently rushed to the hospital this past weekend. In a Snapchat health update, she disclosed needing stitches removed after accidentally stabbing herself and undergoing tests to understand the cause of her rapid weight loss. Fans had previously noticed changes in her physique. Katie admitted she "doesn’t know why" she is losing weight and hopes the tests will provide answers, mentioning difficulties with blood draws due to problematic veins. Her representatives confirmed she was "absolutely fine," stating the hospital visit was for a general check-up and stitch removal. This recent health scare compounds previous reports of a turbulent few months, including social media criticism from ex-husbands Peter Andre and Alex Reid.

Katie has previously spoken about her weight, stating in May that her recent weight loss was desired. She explained past weight gain was due to being in a wheelchair for ten months after breaking her feet and undergoing IVF treatments, both of which she "hated" and felt "uncomfortable" with. She also discussed her struggles with body image on Louis Theroux's podcast last year, saying, "I always said I haven't got body dysmorphia. But there's definitely something, I don't know what it is. I've never looked in the mirror and thought I'm pretty."

Despite her friend's defence, the overarching sentiment among some close to her is that Katie needs to "slow down and take time out for herself" as her "erratic lifestyle isn’t good for her," suggesting she is "partying one minute and dodging things she’s previously committed to the next."
