Kansas Basketball 2025 March Madness Seed and Opponent Announced
The 2025 NCAA Tournament selection committee has given the Kansas Jayhawks the No. 7 seed in the West Regional.
Kansas will take on No. 10 Arkansas on Thursday in Providence. The winner will play either No. 2 St. John’s or No. 15 Omaha in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
Arkansas is in Year 1 under John Calipari, and when combined with No. 2 seed St. John’s, led by Rick Pitino, this may be the most epic coaching trio in any first weekend sub regional in NCAA Tournament history.
Last season, the Kansas Jayhawks were the No. 4 seed in the Midwest Regional. KU wound up losing to the Gonzaga Bulldogs in the Round of 32 by a score of 89-68.
Kansas finished the regular season with a 21-12 record, including an 11-9 record in Big 12 play. The Jayhawks were knocked out of the Big 12 Tournament in the quarterfinals by Arizona.
The Jayhawks are led by Hunter Dickinson, who is averaging a double-double with 17.6 points per game and 10.0 rebounds per game. Dickinson was a First-Team All-Big 12 selection this year. Newcomer and Lawrence, Kansas native Zeke Mayo is second on the team in scoring at 14.5 points per game, and was on the Big 12’s All-Newcomer team, along with being a Third-Team All-Big 12 pick. Point guard Dajuan Harris was named an Honorable Mention All-Big 12 player after finishing the season with 9.2 points per game and 5.7 assists per game.
Kansas has made 53 NCAA Tournament appearances while reaching 16 Final Fours, plus four National Championships (1952, 1988, 2008, 2022). The Jayhawks have an overall record of 117-50 in March Madness.
