There Are 8 NCAA Tournament Games This Saturday - Here's The Schedule
The Round of 32 for the NCAA Tournament officially begins this Saturday with eight intriguing matchups.
Fans won't have to wait long for the second round to begin. At 12:10 p.m. ET, McNeese State and Purdue will square off in the Midwest Region. Will Wade's squad is hoping to keep its Cinderella run alive and book a spot in the Sweet 16. Purdue, on the other hand, is trying to get back to the Final Four for a second straight year.
One of the best coaching matchups in college basketball will be on full display this afternoon when St. John's takes on Arkansas in the West Region. Earlier this week, Rick Pitino may have threw shade at John Calipari when he told reporters he doesn't currently have a coaching rival.
"There's only one coach I consider a rival my whole career. I coached against Frank McGuire in his last game. I coached against Dean Smith. There's only one coach that I had a strong rivalry with," Pitino told reporters. "Today, I respect him as much as anyone in the game, and that's Jim Calhoun. We hated each other, BU and Northeastern. He goes on to coach Connecticut, I go on to coach Providence, and we hated each other there as well. Today, I don't think I respect any coach in the game as much as I respect Jim Calhoun."
The third game on the schedule just might be the best of the day, as Michigan will take on Texas A&M for a spot in the Sweet 16.
Michigan survived a scare from UC San Diego on Thursday night thanks to a clutch bucket from Tre Donaldson in the second half.
By the time the first three games are all said and done, basketball fans will be treated to a loaded late-night slate.
