Lawyer Claims Hussein-Suale Knew Damaging Information About Tiger Eye

A spokesperson for Daniel Owusu Koranteng, also known as Amakye Hussien, a suspect in the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale, has made startling claims regarding the journalist's death. The spokesperson alleges that Hussein-Suale possessed sensitive information about Tiger Eye Investigations that, if revealed, could have significantly impacted Ghana.
According to the spokesperson, text messages in their possession indicate that Hussein-Suale believed Kennedy Agyapong's expose, 'Who Watches the Watchman,' would pale in comparison to the revelations he could have made about Tiger Eye's operations. The spokesperson quoted Hussein-Suale as saying, 'If he was to talk, Agyapong’s expose of 'Who watches the watchman' will be small on the operations of Tiger Eye, adding that you will do all this and will not be appreciated.'
The spokesperson dismissed the notion that Hussein-Suale's murder was linked to the circulation of his images, arguing that he was not an undercover journalist. She pointed out that Hussein-Suale had appeared in a Tiger Eye documentary on the school feeding program and maintained an active Facebook account with pictures of his family. 'Suale has a Facebook page with his photographs everywhere with wife and children so it is strange why his death is related to leaks of his pictures,' she stated.
The spokesperson also addressed the arrest of Amakye Hussien, stating that he has been cooperating with the police for the past six years in the investigation of Hussein-Suale's murder. She expressed surprise that he is now being considered a fugitive, stating, 'He is been in the country every time doing his usual things of supporting family, assisting the vulnerable and is not hiding.'
Furthermore, the spokesperson alleged that Hussein-Suale had a falling out with his boss at Tiger Eye, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, prior to his death. She claimed that messages from Hussein-Suale contained numerous complaints against Anas. She also stated that Amakye's baby mama, who had also fallen out with him, was in contact with Anas and quoted her as saying that Anas had said, 'He will deal with Ahmed that he thinks he has forgotten about him.'
Amakye Hussien has been remanded in custody by the Madina Magistrates Court and faces a provisional charge of murder in connection with Hussein-Suale's death. Hussein-Suale was shot and killed by armed men near his home on January 16, 2019. His murder, which remains unresolved, has raised concerns about the safety of journalists in Ghana. Koranteng’s arrest marks a significant development in the case, potentially uncovering those responsible for the assassination.
Hussein-Suale was a member of the Tiger Eye PI group and collaborated with the BBC on an investigative report exposing corruption in African football. His work is believed to have made him a target. The investigation into his murder has involved the FBI in the United States, working alongside local law enforcement.
