Kano Political Quake: Advisers Solidify Support for Governor Yusuf Amidst Calls for Calm

The Kano State Special Advisers’ Forum has formally declared its steadfast loyalty and support for Governor Abba Yusuf, reaffirming its full alignment with his political direction amidst what it described as a tense political climate within the state. This declaration was made in Kano on Saturday through a statement signed by the Forum’s Secretary, Dr. Idris Salisu Rogo. The forum explicitly stressed that Governor Yusuf holds the position of leader of the government and possesses ultimate authority over all political decisions within Kano State.
According to the statement, members of the Special Advisers’ Forum have unanimously resolved to back all political decisions undertaken by the governor. This commitment is articulated as being in the paramount interest of Kano State and for the welfare of its citizenry. The forum reiterated that “His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, is the leader of the government and holds ultimate authority over political direction and decision-making,” further confirming that its members are completely aligned with the governor’s leadership, vision, and policies.
In a crucial appeal, the advisers urged all political actors, members of various political parties, government appointees, and supporters to exercise considerable restraint in their public utterances and conduct. They issued a stern warning that inflammatory comments, personal attacks, and the circulation of private communications have the potential to significantly erode public confidence and distract the government from its primary focus on developmental objectives for the state.
While acknowledging the inherent dynamism of politics in a democratic framework, the Forum underscored the critical importance of anchoring political engagement on maturity, decorum, and mutual respect. This approach, they emphasized, is vital for preserving Kano’s long-standing and respected reputation for political awareness and civility. The statement also reaffirmed the Forum’s collective commitment to the Yusuf administration, particularly highlighting its support for initiatives related to good governance, people-centred policies, robust infrastructure development, social welfare programs, and essential institutional reforms.
The Forum pointed to the visible progress recorded across various critical sectors under Governor Yusuf’s leadership, asserting that such achievements are evident and warrant collective protection and consolidation. Finally, the statement urged all stakeholders to prioritize the overarching interests of Kano State above any personal grievances or political rivalries, stressing that sustained unity within the government is absolutely essential for maintaining political stability and ensuring effective service delivery to the people.
