Kal-El No: WB Fast-tracking New Wonder Woman Movie Without Gal Gadot After Superman Success (Report)
Superman‘s critical success and promising box-office returns have reportedly prompted a new Wonder Woman feature in motion, which won’t see the return of DCEU’s Gal Gadot. Although a WW feature wasn’t part of DCU’s initial slate, with the lone Amazon-centric project being Paradise Lost, it seems DC Studios is ready to hit the gas on their plans for Diana.
While nothing concrete about this movie has been unveiled, going by Variety‘s reports, it might not be too long before something major comes our way regarding Diana’s introduction in the DCU.
James Gunn has already touched on the prospect of a Wonder Woman movie in the past, clarifying that a WW project was already being written. David Zaslav, in his interview with The New York Times, echoed Gunn’s comments, adding“They’re working on Wonder Woman.”

Although it was universally known that Diana would eventually make her presence in the DCU, recent reports suggest that it is happening relatively fast, thanks to Superman.
With Superman scoring the biggest Tuesday collection of the year (via Comic Book Movie), it makes sense why WB and DC Studios wouldn’t want to waste any longer than they have to and bank on Superman‘s momentum to introduce the Trinity.
But amidst the DC Studio’s plans to fast-track the WW movie, it’s worth noting that James Gunn has been vocal about not rushing the scripts, especially in the case of Diana and Batman. Even though it’ll be interesting to see which actor will join David Corenswet in the new Trinity, it’s quite evident that we might’ve seen the last of Gadot as Diana.
Gal Gadot‘s tenure as Diana was a bit of a mixed bag. As opposed to the heights of the 2017 movie, arguably one of the best DCEU movies, the sequel significantly dampened the momentum around her character.

It’s also no surprise that the regime change ultimately led to the cancellation of the threequel, and according to WSJ, the scrapped movie would’ve brought Wonder Woman into the present day. While it can’t be said for certain if that movie would’ve saved DCEU’s sinking ship or not, with Superman rebuilding the DC brand, we could all use some fresh faces for the Trinity.
With Supergirl already eying a summer 2026 release, which will be followed by Clayface, one of the more surprising DCU announcements, if the reports are true, the next major feature announcement could very well be WW.
However, as Gunn stressed before, it’ll boil down to the script and whether it’s great enough for Diana. The same goes for DCU’s The Brave and the Bold and the potential Trinity reunion on the big screen.
