TV 47 reported that the girl was allegedly killed by her boyfriend at a rental house on Monday, July 14.
Preliminary investigations by the police show that the suspect fled to Uganda moments after committing the heinous crime.
According to locals, the couple, both believed to be Ugandans, had rented the house just a day before the heartbreaking incident.
The girl's mother became concerned about the whereabouts of her daughter when she heard unverified news that the boy had allegedly taken his own life.
Out of curiosity, the woman called her relatives in Kakamega to enquire about the well-being of her daughter.
Like any other mother, she expected to receive good news. Sadly, she was informed how the man she considered her in-law had killed her daughter.
Police are trying to establish the circumstances leading to the teenager's death, and they are awaiting a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Security agencies in Kakamega have called on the residents to remain calm as investigations into the murder incident continue.
