Kaiglo Rockets! African Startup Reaches 50,000 Users with Explosive 200% Growth

Kaiglo, an innovative online marketplace, recently celebrated its first anniversary, marking a year of significant growth and successful operations. Since its launch in Lagos, the platform has rapidly expanded its user base, now boasting over 50,000 registered users. In a press conference commemorating the milestone, Kaiglo’s Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, Victor Chukwuebuka Eze, highlighted the company's achievements, including an impressive over 200% growth rate in merchant enrollment since the first quarter of the current year. Currently, the platform hosts more than 1000 registered merchants, reflecting its strong appeal to various entrepreneurs.

Mr. Eze described Kaiglo as an online marketplace with a unique value proposition, particularly for fashion entrepreneurs, traditional market traders, and smart gadget dealers. The platform is dedicated to fostering the growth of local brands and making consumers' favorite markets more accessible, regardless of their geographical location. Kaiglo's commitment to supporting local businesses has resonated well within the market, even amidst economic challenges.

The company also reported substantial improvements in sales performance. Monthly sales growth increased from 50% in the fourth quarter of 2019 to 175% in the second quarter of the current year, indicating accelerated market penetration and customer engagement. Furthermore, Kaiglo has successfully processed and delivered over 15,000 items in its first year, with more than 70% of these deliveries concentrated in Lagos, where the majority of its operations are centered.

A key development within the review year was the unveiling of KGExpress, Kaiglo's dedicated logistics arm. This initiative was launched to significantly reduce delivery times for both Kaiglo's customers and general merchants. According to Mr. Eze, KGExpress.ng was designed to address the pain points of long waiting times for deliveries, which can be a source of frustration for customers. The CEO emphasized that advanced technology is being utilized to optimize every step of the delivery process, including travel, loading, unloading, and waiting times, ensuring faster service. Plans are in place to establish warehouses that will serve as hubs for 'drop-offs and pick-ups', and the KGExpress service is also available for any business to leverage for their delivery needs.

Looking ahead, Mr. Eze hinted at future plans to launch a world-class Kaiglo mobile application for both Android and iOS users. This app aims to provide a seamless buying and selling experience for more Nigerians. The forthcoming mobile application will incorporate advanced machine learning techniques to curate and deliver unique and newly arrived products to each user, tailored specifically to their individual interests, further enhancing the personalized shopping experience on the Kaiglo platform.
