K-Pop Phenomenon SEVENTEEN Breaks Barriers as First Tiny Desk Act!

K-pop sensation SEVENTEEN made history by becoming the first K-pop act to perform on NPR’s iconic Tiny Desk concert series. The much-anticipated performance, featuring members JOSHUA, MINGYU, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, and DINO, was released on Monday, November 24th, showcasing the group's dynamic energy in the intimate setting of the NPR office in Washington, D.C. The desk, famously adorned with mementos from numerous A-list guests, provided a unique backdrop for the band's engaging mini show.

The quintet delighted the packed audience at NPR headquarters with a selection of their hits. The setlist included beloved tracks such as “Darl+ing,” “_WORLD,” “SOS,” “Rock With You,” “CLAP,” and “HOT.” After an electrifying opening with “Super,” VERNON expressed the band's genuine astonishment at the crowd's enthusiastic reception. “We did not expect this kind of response,” he shared, visibly moved by the loud cheers, adding, “You guys are awesome, thank you so much.” The interactive performance saw fans engaging directly with the members, with one fan shouting out a favorite song, prompting an impromptu a cappella rendition of “HBD” from the five performers.

Throughout the concert, SEVENTEEN’s members emphasized their enjoyment and gratitude towards the audience. VERNON reiterated, “We’re having so much fun because of you guys,” and confessed, “We were honestly super nervous to perform in such a setting. So thank you for making us feel so comfortable. You really boosted our confidence.” The atmosphere was one of mutual appreciation, with the band reciprocating fan adoration, including VERNON's sweet hand heart in response to a fan calling him their bias.

The show culminated with the high-energy track “VERY NICE,” during which the band encouraged everyone watching to dance, jump, and chant “Aju nice.” This Tiny Desk appearance comes as the full 13-member band, including S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, and DK, is actively touring in support of their acclaimed album “Happy Burstday.” This album achieved significant success, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 charts.

Looking ahead, SEVENTEEN has more exciting events planned for their global fanbase. On Saturday, November 29th, the group will celebrate their 10-year anniversary with a special performance at the Ventelin Dome Nagoya in Japan. This celebratory concert will be livestreamed in theaters worldwide, offering fans across the globe an opportunity to join in the milestone event.
