K-Pop Kings Stray Kids Ignite Mexico with Epic STRAYCITY Tour Finale!
K-pop supergroup Stray Kids held their STRAYCITY concert in Mexico City, drawing 60,000 fans to a vibrant celebration of music and culture. The event, which included a special appearance by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, marked their largest show in Mexico to date and fostered strong ties between South Korea and Mexico.
K-pop sensation Stray Kids captivated an immense audience in Mexico City with their STRAYCITY concert on Friday, September 25, creating an unforgettable experience described as an "ephemeral city built on music and energetic choreography." The grand event, held at the GNP Seguros Stadium, drew an estimated 60,000 enthusiastic fans, marking a significant celebration that underscored the growing bonds of friendship between South Korea and Mexico.
This triumphant return for the eight-member supergroup – comprised of Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. – came 17 months after their initial debut in the Latin American country at the very same iconic venue. The STRAYCITY concert was designed in a festival style, featuring not only Stray Kids but also performances by the South Korean-Japanese band Nexz, alongside Mexican artists Renee and Andrés Obregón, who opened the spectacular show.
The atmosphere was electric from the start, with Bang Chan engaging the crowd, mixing Korean with Mexican slang: “We’re back in Mexico after a year. Did you miss us? ¡No manchen!” Hyunjin also shared a personal connection, pointing to a stadium slogan that read “living is incredible” and mentioning he had even photographed it. Thousands of Nachimbongs, Stray Kids’ official light sticks, brilliantly illuminated the stands, with many fans improvising with their phone lights to join the vibrant display. The dedicated fanbase, known as STAYs, actively participated, performing choreographies in sync with the group as the stadium roared with hits like “TOPLINE,” “S-Class,” “Bounce Back,” “MANIAC,” “DOMINO,” “Thunderous,” and “DIVINE.”
The extensive setlist also thrilled fans with tracks such as “Walkin on Water,” “God’s Menu,” “Chk Chk Boom,” and a dynamic rock rendition of “LALALALA.” The visual spectacle was further enhanced by three massive towers on stage, which emitted flames in perfect coordination with the fans’ Nachimbongs, immersing everyone in the show's elevated moments. Each track was meticulously synchronized with the intricate moves of the dancers accompanying the idols, showcasing the group's renowned energetic choreography.
A particularly notable attendee was South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, accompanied by first lady Kim Hye-kyung, who enthusiastically held her Nachimbong and cheered alongside the fandom. President Lee's presence concluded a successful official visit to Mexico, emphasizing the powerful role of K-pop in cultural diplomacy. He later shared a video of the performance on X, commenting, “Live footage from Stray Kids’ Mexico City performance commemorating the Korea-Mexico summit,” and adding, “You can truly feel the great power of K-pop, which showcases Korea, the nation of strong culture, to the world.”
Further demonstrating the event's cultural significance, President Lee and the first lady were joined by Claudia Curiel de Icaza, Mexico’s Secretary of Culture, who brought 10 children from vulnerable communities. These children had received gifted tickets to the show, an initiative announced earlier by Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, allowing them to experience the magic of the concert firsthand.
Towards the end of the 90-minute electrifying performance, Bang Chan addressed the crowd, noting the reluctance of fans to leave: “Looking at this atmosphere, it seems like no one wants to go home tonight. Do you guys not want to leave either? Let’s see how much longer we can go.” He then took a moment to offer important recommendations, urging fans to look out for each other and assist anyone in need, highlighting the group's connection with their audience.
Organizers confirmed that STRAYCITY represented the largest concert Stray Kids has ever held in Mexico to date. The supergroup was scheduled to return to the GNP Seguros Stadium on Saturday, September 26, for the second night of STRAYCITY, officially concluding the Latin American leg of their tour, which had previously included stops in Colombia, Argentina, and Brazil.
