2022 Roots Party presidential running mate Justina Wamae has announced that she is not a member of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

In a statement a few hours after Rigathi Gachagua launched the party on Thursday, May 15, 2025, in Nairobi, she stated that Kenya needs more parties for diversity and ideology.

“I am NOT a member of DCP, but I’m happy for them. The country needs even more parties for diversity in ideology,” she stated.

Gachagua unveiled his much-anticipated political outfit, saying he has spent the last 6 months at his home holding consultations to help shape his political party.

The DCP party leader said his party has been forged on the backdrop of the need to provide better leadership for Kenyans and pull them out of the long-standing problems of poor governance.
