Julia Roberts portrays Alma Imhoff (also referred to as Alma Olsson), a revered Ivy League philosophy professor whose life is irrevocably altered when her mentee, graduate student Maggie Price (Ayo Edebiri), brings forth a grave accusation against a colleague and close friend, Hank Gibson (Andrew Garfield), alleging sexual assault. The narrative, primarily unfolding within the rarified cloisters of Yale University, intricately weaves together themes of sexual accusation, academic ambition, and deeply personal secrets.
