Jonathan, Akufo-Addo Storm London, Mourn Buhari With Shettima In Emotional Tribute

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan and ex-Ghanaian President Nana Akufo-Addo paid a condolence visit to Vice President Kashim Shettima in London on Monday, following the death of Nigeria’s former President, Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday, July 13.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The visit formed part of a series of solemn tributes by dignitaries as arrangements are underway for Buhari’s repatriation and state funeral in Daura, Katsina State.

Vice President Shettima is currently in London on President Bola Tinubu’s directive to oversee logistical plans and accompany the late president’s remains back to Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement by Stanley Nkwocha, Senior Special Assistant to the Vice President on Media and Communications, titled: “Jonathan, Akufo-Addo Visit VP Shettima in London, Pay Tribute to Buhari.”

According to the release, the former leaders’ visit was part of the ongoing commemorations honouring the late president.

Buhari died at 4:30 PM on Sunday at a private hospital in London after a prolonged illness.

In the wake of his passing, President Tinubu declared a seven-day national mourning period, ordering that flags be flown at half-mast across Nigeria and at all diplomatic missions abroad.

Buhari’s body is expected to arrive in Katsina on Tuesday, July 15, for a state burial, followed by his interment in his hometown, Daura.
