Johnnie Walker celebrates Nigerian talents ahead of South African Johnnie Walker AfroExchange showcase
Johnnie Walker, Scotch whisky, has launched a new cultural platform called Johnnie Walker AfroExchange, aimed at spotlighting Africa’s vibrant creative scene across music, fashion, art and storytelling.
The platform, inspired by the brand’s Keep Walking ethos, was unveiled at a send-off event in Lagos on Wednesday, bringing together creatives, media personalities and culture insiders to celebrate the Nigerian ambassadors who later represented the country at the main event in Johannesburg on Saturday.
Hosted at Trib3 Lagos, the evening celebrated music star Bnxn, DJ Dope Caesar and former Big Brother Naija housemate Saga Adeolu, all selected as Nigerian representatives for the inaugural edition.
Speaking at the event, Ifeoma Agu, group head of culture, influencer and advocacy at Diageo South, West and Central Africa, said AfroExchange is a bold step in honouring African creators.
“At Johnnie Walker, we believe in celebrating those who challenge convention, shift culture and shape what’s next,” she said.
“Johnnie Walker AfroExchange represents a powerful evolution in how we engage with culture as a brand. We are investing in voices, stories and innovations driving the Afrocultural movement forward. It is a cultural bridge that pays tribute to Africa’s bold creators, a space for connection, creative experimentation, influence and cultural pride.”
The Lagos event kicked off with an energetic DJ set before transitioning into a panel conversation hosted by media personality Ehis.
Culture journalists Joey Akan and Quincy Jonze explored the influence of Afrobeats and Amapiano across the continent.
Guests also experienced a genre-fusing DJ set by Titanium, who blended Afrobeats with Amapiano to close the night on a high.
Among those in attendance are BBNaija’s Elozonam, Hermes and Tunde Onakoya.
Johnnie Walker AfroExchange officially debut in Johannesburg on Saturday. The platform aims to create a cultural bridge between cities, starting with Lagos and Johannesburg and will continue to travel across Africa.
Johnnie Walker has continued to play a key role in Africa’s creative economy, collaborating with talents in music, fashion, art and film.
With AfroExchange, the brand deepens its commitment to celebrating and investing in African innovation and cultural pride.
