Jennifer Lopez to Host 2025 American Music Awards

Global icon Jennifer Lopez is set to host the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs), marking her return to the stage a decade after her initial hosting debut in 2015. The announcement, made by Dick Clark Productions on Wednesday, confirms that the show will air live from Las Vegas on May 26, broadcasted on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, expressed his excitement about Lopez's return, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards. Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick-off celebration of summer.”
Lopez hinted at her comeback during the AMAs’ 50th-anniversary special six months prior, sparking anticipation among fans. While this will only be her second time hosting, Lopez has graced the AMAs stage as a performer more than ten times, solidifying her connection with the show.
The 51st edition of the AMAs will be a simulcast event, available on Paramount+ and CBS, ensuring viewers across all time zones can tune in live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers will have access to the live feed of their local CBS affiliate, along with on-demand viewing options. However, Paramount+ Essential subscribers will have to wait until the day after the live broadcast to stream the show on-demand.
In a nod to Memorial Day, producers have announced that the show will feature a special tribute to U.S. troops and veterans, incorporating authentic performances and memorable moments. This year also marks the first time the AMAs will be broadcast from Las Vegas, adding a new element of excitement to the event.
The move to CBS comes after the expiration of a long-term deal with ABC. Following a hiatus, the AMAs are making a comeback, fueled by the ratings success of November’s “American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special,” which saw a significant increase in viewership compared to the last regularly scheduled AMAs in 2022.
