Jennifer Lopez to Host 2025 American Music Awards

Global icon Jennifer Lopez is set to grace the stage as the host of the 2025 American Music Awards (AMAs). The announcement, made by Dick Clark Productions on Wednesday, heralds Lopez's return to the AMAs after a decade, marking her second time helming the prestigious music event. The 51st anniversary edition of the AMAs is scheduled to air live from Las Vegas on May 26, broadcasting on CBS and streaming on Paramount+.

Jay Penske, CEO of Dick Clark Productions, expressed his enthusiasm for Lopez's return, stating, "We are thrilled to welcome Jennifer Lopez back to host the American Music Awards. Jennifer’s incredible talent and incomparable stage presence make her the ideal host of the show. We know she will bring her one-of-a-kind energy to the official kick-off celebration of summer."

Lopez hinted at her potential hosting comeback during the AMAs’ 50th-anniversary special six months prior, making the recent announcement unsurprising to many. While this will be only her second time hosting, Lopez has been a frequent performer on the AMAs stage, showcasing her musical talents more than ten times in the past.

The 2025 AMAs mark a significant shift for the award show. For the first time, the event will be broadcast on CBS, following the expiration of a long-term agreement with ABC. The AMAs have also moved from their traditional fall timeslot to a Memorial Day berth, signifying the beginning of summer celebrations.

In addition to its broadcast on CBS, the AMAs will be available for streaming on Paramount+. Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers will have access to a live feed of their local CBS affiliate, as well as on-demand access to the show. Paramount+ Essential subscribers can stream the show on-demand the day after it airs.

Producers have revealed that the show will feature a special tribute to U.S. troops and veterans, aligning with the Memorial Day theme. This year's AMAs will also be the first to be held in Las Vegas.

After a two-and-a-half-year hiatus since a regular edition, the AMAs are making a strong comeback. The success of the “American Music Awards 50th Anniversary Special” in November, which saw a notable increase in ratings compared to the 2022 AMAs, has set a promising tone for the upcoming broadcast. Variety parent company PMC co-owns Dick Clark Productions in a joint venture with Eldridge.
