Jennifer Lopez sued for $300k after posting her photos without permission

American singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez, is facing a $300,000 lawsuit for allegedly sharing copyrighted photos from the 2025 Golden Globe Awards on her social media page without proper authorisation.

Lopez, 54, made the post on January 5, after stepping out on the red carpet in a white gown and faux fur coat.
She later uploaded five pictures from the event on her official Instagram account with the caption, “GG Weekend Glamour.”

According to Billboard, the images were widely reshared by fans and celebrity blogs, but two of the photos reportedly belonged to photographer Edwin Blanco and his agency, Backgrid, who have now filed a copyright infringement suit.

The lawsuit, filed in the United States, is seeking $150,000 per photo, amounting to $300,000 in damages.

Blanco claims Lopez used the images to promote fashion brands and designers she is affiliated with, without following proper licensing agreements.

“Ms Lopez’s unauthorised use of the images is commercial in nature, intended for the purpose of self-promotion,” part of the suit reads.

“She used the images to spotlight the designer of her clothing and jewellery, leveraging the publicity from the event to promote her fashion affiliations and brand partnerships.”

The photographers also alleged that Lopez’s team had previously agreed to licensing terms but never followed through with the final paperwork or payment.

This is not the first time Lopez has been dragged into legal trouble over image rights.
In 2019 and 2020, she faced similar lawsuits from other photo agencies for reposting red carpet pictures without permission.

Lopez, who remains a global figure in fashion and entertainment, has yet to publicly respond to the latest suit.
