Jeep's 2027 Grand Cherokee Unleashes Hurricane 4 Power in Trailhawk and Overland!
The 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee sees the return of its rugged Trailhawk and luxurious Overland trims, now powered by the new Hurricane 4 Turbo engine. These models promise enhanced off-road capabilities and upscale comfort, signaling a strategic shift for Stellantis's U.S. lineup. Drivers can anticipate powerful performance and advanced off-road technology integrated into these returning favorites.
The 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee lineup welcomes back two highly anticipated upper trims, the Trailhawk and Overland, after their absence in 2026. These models, renowned for their blend of off-road capability and upscale comfort, are set to return with a new powerplant: the Hurricane 4 Turbo engine. This marks a shift from their previous iteration in 2025, which utilized the plug-in hybrid 4xe powertrain. The change comes as Stellantis, the parent company, has reconsidered its electrification strategies for the U.S. market, leading to the reintroduction of these popular gasoline-powered variants.
The Hurricane 4 Turbo, a 2.0-liter turbocharged I-4 engine, promises robust performance, delivering an impressive 324 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque, with peak torque available at 3,000 rpm. This potent engine also enables a towing capacity of up to 6,200 pounds when equipped with the Trailer Tow package, which is a standard feature on the Trailhawk model. Both the Trailhawk and Overland trims will be paired with the TorqueFlite 850RE eight-speed automatic transmission and a Quadra-Trac II two-speed transfer case, ensuring seamless power delivery and enhanced traction.
The Trailhawk, in particular, is engineered for serious off-road adventures. Its Selec-Terrain system gains a new Rock mode, specifically designed to optimize power delivery to the ground, complemented by an electronic rear limited-slip differential. To safeguard crucial components during rugged excursions, the Trailhawk comes standard with six steel skidplates protecting the engine, fuel tank, transfer case, transmission, and other vital parts. The exterior of the 2027 Grand Cherokee Trailhawk has been thoughtfully redesigned with a reshaped front fascia to allow for better tire clearance. Signature red tow hooks are prominent, and the hood features a matte-black, glare-resistant decal adorned with red Trailhawk detailing. The vehicle proudly displays Jeep’s iconic Trail Rated badging, finished in black and red to align with the Trailhawk's distinctive aesthetic, and includes another red tow hook and Trailhawk badge at the rear, with metallic accents receiving a dark neutral finish.
Inside, the 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk integrates the latest standard technology, including a 12.3-inch infotainment display common to the regular midsize Jeep. However, this system is enhanced with off-road-specific features, such as Off-Road Pages that provide real-time information on vehicle dynamics, pitch and roll, and additional gauges, alongside access to Selec-Terrain management and suspension settings. An integrated TrailCam camera system offers drivers a clear view of the trail with dynamic tire-path overlays, and the rear camera is equipped with a washer to maintain visibility. Occupants will enjoy Nappa leather seats in Global Black, accented with red stitching and unique Trailhawk-specific detailing, ensuring comfort even in challenging terrains.
