Is 'Saturday Night Live' New Tonight? Host and Music Guest Revealed for Season 50 Finale - American Songwriter
Marking the 50th season of Saturday Night Live, the show produced an amazing lineup of hosts throughout the last several months. Treating the entire season as a highlight to the show’s rich past, Lorne Michaels even celebrated the milestone with a massive anniversary special that included current and former hosts, musical guests, and a few surprises. But now, the cast geared up for one more show to end the 50th season. And wanting to go out with a bang, here are all the details, including host and musical guest.
Ending the season just before the summer, SNL decided to welcome back Scarlett Johansson as the host for the evening. Married to cast member Colin Jost, the actress has made more than a few appearances in the past. But with Johansson taking center stage, she promised a show unlike any other. She declared she wanted it bigger than the 50th anniversary special and even longer. But Kenan Thompson admitted that the special ran for like nine hours. Not having that much time, Johansson didn’t want to hear it.
The musical guest for the event, Bad Bunny, even stepped in, explaining how Johansson was being unrealistic with her expectations. But no matter the runtime, the cast, alongside the Hollywood star, are sure to end the season with a spectacular show.

Returning for her seventh time hosting, the night will not only mark the end of season 50, but will help Johansson become the most frequent female host on SNL. She beat out both Drew Barrymore and Tina Fey.
With the entire season looking back on the history of SNL, former cast member Sarah Silverman recently discussed what it was like to work on the show and the anxiety that came with each meeting.
Appearing on The Howard Stern Show, the comedian admitted that the stress of the show often crippled creativity. “They just have this energy that puts you in your place where you feel like a piece of sh-t, and you’re terrified. The anxiety… it’s very hard to be zen and chill there.” She continued, “Andy Samberg did that whole piece about the anxiety of doing something for ‘SNL.’ It was very honest — I thought a lot of people connected to it that were there. We all feel like losers here for some reason.”
Eventually fired from SNL, Silverman insisted, “I think it’s definitely for the best.”
With SNL helping kickstart numerous careers over the years, don’t miss the season 50 finale, airing tonight at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC and available to stream the following day on Peacock.
