While Connor McDavid dazzles on the ice, his wife Lauren Kyle McDavid is steadily becoming a powerhouse in Edmonton’s design and fashion scene. Far from simply being known as the NHL superstar’s partner, Lauren is building a legacy of her own — one rooted in creativity, entrepreneurship, and community.
This spring, Kyle launched Trove Living, a high-end furniture showroom that also houses her design firm Kyle & Co, along with a chic social space, Bar Trove. Speaking about her motivation, she said, “I’ve always wanted to have a brick and mortar… I wanted the general public to experience something that I created.”
The showroom sits in Edmonton’s historic Canada Permanent building, offering 9,000 square feet of elegant design and multifunctional spaces.
For Kyle, it wasn’t just about business — it was personal. “Myself, as a person — I love hosting. I love making people feel good. I love cooking. So it was a natural extension.”Not content with just interiors, Lauren is now making waves in fashion. She founded Sports Club Atelier, a premium sportswear label that debuted by designing stylish playoff jackets for Oilers’ wives and girlfriends. With limited-edition collections already a hit, Kyle is preparing for a major collaboration with Team Canada ahead of the 2026 Winter Olympics.
“I really saw a gap in the market,” she explained. “There’s a lot of opportunity with the brand.”
The couple’s relationship began in 2016 and quickly blossomed into a supportive partnership. McDavid once gifted her business coaching sessions for her birthday — a move that helped Lauren build multiple ventures. “I wouldn’t be here, for sure, without her [coach],” Kyle said. She draws a direct parallel between her entrepreneurial journey and Connor’s pursuit of excellence, noting, “We both know how we need to show up for each other… because you need all the support you can get.”Also Read: “Please re-sign”: Connor McDavid’s birthday post for wife and dog hijacked by fans begging him to stay—or leave EdmontonWhile many see Connor McDavid as the face of Edmonton hockey, Lauren Kyle McDavid is fast becoming the face of Edmonton’s creative future — and she’s just getting started.
