Intense Reunion: 'Terminal List: Dark Wolf' Finale Sets Stage for Explosive Season 2

The first season of Prime Video's action-packed espionage thriller, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf, culminated in its highly anticipated finale, titled "The Wolf You Feed," delivering a thrilling conclusion that tied together weeks of conspiracy and personal battles. Set several years before the events of The Terminal List, the series focused on Ben Edwards (Taylor Kitsch) as he grappled with internal struggles while ensnared in a web of global espionage. The finale saw the strategic return of Chris Pratt's James Reece, just as the stakes reached their zenith, a reunion that excited fans and critics alike.
Following a temporal jump from the previous episode, the finale opened with Raife Hastings (Tom Hopper) confronting Jed Haverford (Robert Wisdom) at the CIA, each recounting their version of events. Despite Raife's accusations, Haverford, nearly retired and aware of Raife's lack of evidence, dismissed the claims, subsequently leaving the agency without consequence for his alleged crimes. Meanwhile, Ben Edwards sent a poignant letter from Mosul, Iraq, to James Reece, reflecting on his actions and asserting that his teams were his true family. Ben's narration continued as he fortified a safe house in the German countryside, preparing for a confrontation with those he believed needed to be held accountable for the conspiracy. Reece and Boozer (Jared Shaw) concurrently made their way to Frankfurt, driven by Ben's communication, as Ben himself prepared for an impending war, even watching old videos of his wife, Amy (Betty Gilpin), confirming their divorce and expressing regret for not returning home.
A pivotal moment arrived when Ben and Reece reunited in Frankfurt. Reece urged Ben not to carry the burden alone, but Ben, resolute in his conviction, warned Reece against trusting Hastings for the truth. Despite their past tensions, Ben expressed profound gratitude to Reece for his unwavering belief. That night, Ben, in collaboration with Tal Varon (Shiraz Tzarfati) via an online chess program, executed a plan to bring himself and the stolen nuclear bearings back onto the grid. This move immediately caught the attention of both Haverford and Cyrus Rahimi (Alain Ali Washnevsky), who then mobilized to locate Ben and retrieve the sensitive cargo.
The confrontation soon unfolded at Ben's safe house. As QRF vehicles approached, Ben's meticulously laid traps triggered an explosion, alerting him to their presence. A fierce firefight ensued, with Ben, though outnumbered, escaping into the basement through a pre-dug tunnel. Before leaving, he set a final trap, destroying the house and many of the operatives. Ben regrouped in the woods, sniping the remaining QRF team, but was eventually shot and cornered. In a dramatic eleventh-hour rescue, Reece arrived with half of Alpha Team, pushing back the enemy forces and saving their embattled "chief," a moment celebrated by fans for showcasing Reece and his team years before their fateful final mission.
Recovering in a barn where he had hidden the nuclear bearings, Ben entrusted them to Reece, Boozer, and the rest of the team. His objective: to clear the names of Mo Farooq, Jules Landry, and Raife, as well as his own. While Reece had guided Ben this far, he informed his friend that the remainder of the mission was Ben's alone, a path Ben seemed to embrace. Before concluding his task, Ben made a detour to Tel Aviv to leave a package for Eliza's (Rona-Lee Shimon) daughter, Noa (Reef Neeman), containing a book and Eliza's bracelet. He then met with Mo, Landry, and Tal. It was revealed that Mo had enlisted Reece and Alpha Team to aid Ben, unable to assist directly due to personal risks. With the team's support, Ben moved to dismantle the conspiracy. Landry eliminated one arms dealer in Istanbul, while Mo brutally took out Cyrus with a car bomb. Upon witnessing Cyrus's death on the news, Haverford, relaxing on a golf course, realized he was next.
In the finale's climatic moments, Ben confronted Haverford at his home. Haverford, though unsurprised by Ben's presence, revealed his motivation for attempting to create a nuclear Iran: a deep-seated anger stemming from his Vietnam War experience and America's perceived inaction against Iran. He admitted to trying to kill Ben in Zurich, believing them to be similar. Ben, however, countered by revealing that Tal had compiled a case against Haverford based on his communications with Cyrus, ensuring a life sentence. Ben left Haverford to the arriving authorities and proceeded to the George Bush Center for Intelligence to meet with the CIA's director.
Two months later, Ben was approached by an old friend, Hank "Dasher" Dashnaw (Pablo Schreiber), who invited him to join a new project with Vic Rodriguez, a name familiar to fans of Jack Carr's novels. Dashnaw's offer, highlighted by the tagline "We Deal In Lead, Friend," resonated with Ben. Subsequently, Ben underwent a lie detector test at Langley, admitting to killing Al-Jabouri and German intelligence operators, and working with Mossad. When asked his reason for seeking this new CIA position, Ben simply stated, "Because I belong here," signaling a new, darker chapter for the character.
Beyond its compelling narrative, The Terminal List: Dark Wolf garnered significant critical and audience success. Collider presented an exclusive sneak peek of the finale, highlighting the reunion of Kitsch and Pratt. The series quickly became the most-watched show on Prime Video globally and held the #1 position in the U.S. weekly charts in early September 2025. By late August 2025, it boasted an 83% audience score and a 71% critic score, demonstrating the thriving nature of The Terminal List franchise. Chris Pratt himself expressed surprise at the prequel's elevated quality, calling it "bigger and better" than the original. Collider's Samuel R. Murrian lauded the show with a 9/10 review, particularly praising Taylor Kitsch's "terrific" and "uncommonly interesting action presence," describing it as "big-budget Dad TV done about as well as humanly possible" and commending its exemplary craftsmanship. The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is available for streaming on Prime Video.
