Industry invited to attend July SCRS, CIC meetings in Philadelphia | Repairer Driven News

The Society of Collision Repair Specialists (SCRS) invites the industry to attend its upcoming open board meeting on July 22 at the Sonesta Philadelphia Rittenhouse Square in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The open meeting offers “a valuable opportunity for collision repairers and industry stakeholders to engage with SCRS leadership, volunteers, and other members to learn more about the association’s current activities on a national level,” according to an SCRS press release. It is held in conjunction with the Collision Industry Conference (CIC) summer meeting, taking place the following day at the same location.

The SCRS open meeting will be held from 2-5 p.m. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Hotel reservations through the event booking link are available here.

All members of the industry are welcome, with special encouragement to local repair facilities in the Philadelphia region to attend and participate in discussions that directly impact their businesses.

There will be a featured presentation from the SCRS Education Committee on the impact of ceramic coatings in the collision repair environment, the chemical composition of ceramic coatings, and cutting through marketing jargon from coating manufacturers.

Danny Gredinberg, Database Enhancement Gateway (DEG) administrator, will also share how to identify and verify required scanning, aiming, and diagnostic steps — tasks that can vary widely by vehicle make and model. What used to be routine procedures, like aiming, now often involve advanced technology and calibration, the release states. Gredinberg’s presentation is promised to offer helpful resources and insights to navigate the evolving requirements.

CIC’s meeting, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on July 23, will follow a total loss theme, the first time CIC has held a themed meeting.

Jordan Hendler, CIC administrator, tells Repairer Driven News that the goal of choosing a theme based on a particular aspect of the collision repair industry is to raise awareness and lend discussion.

For this meeting, Hendler said the focus will center not only on how total loss issues affect the collision repairer segment, but also their relationships with every other segment of the industry, including insurers, vendors, and suppliers, who all have their own hurdles and challenges to overcome.

“The idea behind having the total loss theme for this meeting came from the prevalence of the topic in discussions happening in the industry, as well as our committees,” Hendler said. “While not every presentation is on total loss, it is the majority, looking at it through lenses in which their committee sees, such as Repair Process & Procedures, Estimating & Repair Planning, Governmental, and Data Access & Privacy.”

She added that CIC doesn’t currently have any other themed meetings in the works; however, the outcome of highlighting total losses at this month’s meeting and how the audience engages with it will determine other future possibilities.

“We tend to have a theme of current issues given the nature of the meeting format, and many meetings end up with a theme presenting as an undercurrent,” Hendler said. “We’ve seen ADAS, as an example, or EV and technological advancements, play a dominant role in recent years.”

The full meeting agenda is available here.

On Thursday, July 24, SCRS will host its annual Affiliate Leadership Conference, which is an exclusive in-person roundtable for leaders of state and regional affiliate associations. According to the press release, the event is by invitation only and is designed to foster collaboration, idea sharing, and strategic planning among SCRS-affiliated associations.
