Indiana Reacts: How should men's basketball handle nonconference scheduling in the future?
Welcome to SB Nation Reacts, a survey of fans across the NCAA. Throughout the year we ask questions of the most plugged-in Indiana Hoosiers fans and fans across the country. Sign up here to participate in the weekly emailed surveys.
Indiana men’s basketball’s non-conference schedule is now official. The Hoosiers will face four high-major opponents: Marquette and Louisville at neutral sites (Chicago and Indianapolis, respectively), Kansas State at home in Bloomington and Kentucky on the road in Lexington. The remaining seven matchup will be against low or mid-major opponents.
The non-conference focuses largely on opponents within Indiana’s general reason, large swaths of the fanbase are concentrated around the southern portion of the state near Louisville and there are plenty of Indiana alumni around Chicago.
Kentucky returns to the schedule for the first time in over a decade, restoring a previously dormant, storied rivalry between the two programs.
How should Indiana schedule in the future? Which other name brand programs should the Hoosiers look to face? Should Kentucky remain even after the conclusion of the agreed upon series?
