The 23-year-old southpaw was handed India’s Test Cap No. 317 on Friday, as Shubman Gill elected to bat first in overcast conditions. With Kohli, Rohit, and Ashwin now retired from the longest format, this marks the beginning of a bold new phase in Indian cricket.
