(MENAFN- KNN India) India has called on all BRICS member nations to deepen cooperation in the startup sector to foster innovation and growth, the Commerce and Industry Ministry said on Monday.

The proposal was made during the 9th BRICS Industry Ministers' Meeting, held on May 21 in Brasília, Brazil.

BRICS, originally a group of five major emerging economies, now includes ten countries-Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Ethiopia, Indonesia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.

Highlighting its commitment to innovation, India launched the BRICS Startup Knowledge Hub on January 31, 2025, under the BRICS Start-Up Forum.

This is the first dedicated platform of its kind for the group, aimed at strengthening cross-border collaboration, sharing knowledge, and supporting the startup ecosystems across member nations.

India is set to assume the presidency of BRICS in 2026, and officials see this as an opportunity to lead by example in promoting entrepreneurship and digital innovation among member countries.

"Startups are engines of growth and innovation," the ministry said, emphasizing the need for joint efforts to build resilient and inclusive startup ecosystems.

With global challenges demanding collaborative solutions, India's push for enhanced startup cooperation could pave the way for stronger economic ties and shared development goals among BRICS nations.
