India's 'Operation Sindoor' Hailed by Sports Stars Amid Pakistan Tensions

India's sporting and film fraternities united to laud 'Operation Sindoor', a series of precision missile strikes conducted by the Indian armed forces against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. These strikes, carried out in the early hours of Wednesday, were a decisive retaliation to the horrific terror attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 people, predominantly tourists. The Indian Army successfully targeted nine terror strongholds, notably those of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Muridke.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar led the chorus of praise from the sports world, posting on 'X' (formerly Twitter): "Fearless in unity. Boundless in strength. India's shield is her people. There's no room for terrorism in this world. We're ONE TEAM! Jai Hind." Other prominent cricketers like Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Suresh Raina, and Shikhar Dhawan also took to social media to commend India's robust response. Sehwag famously wrote, "Agar koi aap par patthar phenke toh uspar Phool Phenko, Lekin Gamle ke saath (If someone throws stones at you then respond with flowers but not without the pots they are planted in). Jai Hind." Badminton star Saina Nehwal, Olympic boxer Vijender Singh, wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt, and chess ace Vidith Gujrathi also expressed their solidarity, emphasizing India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and the necessity of punishing brutal attacks.

The film industry also joined in expressing national pride and support for the armed forces. Actors Akshay Kumar, Kangana Ranaut, Allu Arjun, Suniel Shetty, Jr NTR, Riteish Deshmukh, Nimrat Kaur, and Anupam Kher, along with singer Adnan Sami and filmmakers Shekhar Kapur and Madhur Bhandarkar, praised 'Operation Sindoor'. Akshay Kumar captioned his post "Jai Hind. Jai Mahakaal," while Kangana Ranaut, a BJP MP, reiterated the government's stance on "zero tolerance" towards terrorism. Allu Arjun and Jr NTR shared messages invoking justice and praying for the safety and strength of the Indian Army. Suniel Shetty affirmed, "Zero tolerance. Total justice. #OperationSindoor." Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur highlighted that India's response demonstrated its responsibility and confidence, executing "a precise hit at territories and organisation that backed the horrendous terrorists that killed innocent civilians" without resorting to war rhetoric. The widespread support from both the sporting and film communities underscored a unified national sentiment against terrorism, reinforcing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's earlier decision on April 29 to grant the armed forces "complete operational freedom" regarding the mode, targets, and timing of their response.
