The IDF announced that it was investigating the death of a soldier in northern Gaza on May 19 as a possible case of friendly fire. The announcement came as Hamas detailed a May 16 operation targeting Israeli troops in Beit Lahia on its Telegram channel. The Al-Qassam Brigades claimed that it first blew up 3 Israeli military vehicles and then engaged in close combat with another IDF unit, inflicting multiple casualties.
