Roadkill's Legendary Dodge Hellcat Heads to Auction Without Reserve

A piece of automotive television history is looking for a new owner as the iconic 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat featured on Roadkill has gone up for auction. The muscle car, made famous through the long-running MotorTrend series, is being sold with no reserve on Bring a Trailer.

The Challenger appeared in Roadkill Episode 38, where hosts David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan famously put it through a brutal three-way tug-of-war against a Dodge Charger Hellcat and an SRT Viper. The episode has since become one of the show's most memorable, attracting millions of views and helping cement the car's legendary status among enthusiasts.

According to the Bring a Trailer auction listing, the Challenger is being offered without a minimum reserve price, meaning it will sell to the highest bidder regardless of the final amount. At the time of publication, bidding was sitting at around $35,000, with only a few days remaining before the auction closes.

The Hellcat was originally supplied by Dodge as part of its sponsorship of Roadkill and featured in several promotional activities during the show's run. Its fame even extended to the cover of HOT ROD Magazine, following the unforgettable tug-of-war challenge that became one of the franchise's defining moments.

The auction comes after Roadkill concluded its 13-year run in 2024. Many of the show's famous project cars were either sold, dismantled or retained by former hosts, making this Challenger one of the few vehicles with documented television history now available to collectors.

Under the bonnet sits Dodge's legendary supercharged 6.2-litre HEMI V8, producing 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. Despite its hard life on television, the car remains operational and has accumulated roughly 50,000 miles, making it both a collector's item and a usable modern muscle car.

The timing is particularly notable following Dodge's decision to discontinue production of the Challenger and its traditional V8-powered muscle cars. That has increased demand for well-preserved—and especially historically significant—Hellcats among collectors.

For fans of Roadkill, American muscle cars and automotive memorabilia, the auction represents a rare opportunity to own one of the most recognisable vehicles ever featured on the hit series.
