Iconic Reunion Shakes Music World: Fifth Harmony Surprises Fans, Camila Cabello Reacts

Fifth Harmony, the acclaimed girl group, officially reunited on Sunday, August 31, for their first performance together in seven years. The surprise reunion took place during the Jonas Brothers’ JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown tour stop at the Dos Equis Pavilion in Dallas. The group, now consisting of Ally Brooke, Normani, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane—following Camila Cabello’s departure in 2016—took to the stage dressed in all-black outfits to perform their 2015 hit, “Worth It,” which peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The event was streamed live on Samsung TV Plus, and Normani expressed the sentiment of the moment to the crowd, asking, “Y’all remember Fifth Harmony?”

The reunion had been brewing with anticipation, fueled by recent activities on the group’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. Earlier on the day of the performance, the account posted for the first time in seven years with “#FifthHarmonyFollowSpree,” sparking widespread speculation among fans, known as Harmonizers. Reunion rumors had also been circulating for months, with Ally Brooke and Dinah Jane teasing the possibility during an interview at the 2024 Billboard Women in Music event in March. Brooke commented, “We’ll see… we’re not sure,” while Jane reflected on the enduring impact of their music, stating, “I love that our fans can reminisce on such good times and I love that we’re getting the credit again. Our music was very impactful at the time and I feel like it was kind of overlooked, to be honest. So now that it’s reviving again on its own it just shows our music speaks for itself.”

The group’s history began in 2012 on the second season of the U.S. version of The X Factor. They quickly rose to fame with their debut album, *Reflection*, in 2015, which featured hits like “Worth It.” Their success continued with “Work From Home,” featuring Ty Dolla $ign, which reached No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart in June 2016. In December 2016, Camila Cabello announced her departure to pursue a solo career, a decision communicated via her representatives. Fifth Harmony continued as a quartet until going on an indefinite hiatus in 2018 to allow members to focus on individual projects. Each member has since explored solo paths, with Brooke hinting in a 2023 Billboard interview that a reunion was always a possibility, stating, “We’re women now and we have grown so much and we have done our own thing, gone our own ways and gone our own path. And now we’re together in a different light… I’m trying to reunite with them, so I think some sort of reunion may happen.”

Even Camila Cabello showed her support for her former bandmates following the surprise reunion. After Fifth Harmony shared a clip of their performance on Instagram, Cabello posted four red heart emojis in the comments, offering a subtle yet heartfelt endorsement. The Jonas Brothers also acknowledged the special moment, sharing a clip of the performance on Instagram and writing, “An honor to have our friends @fifthharmony up on stage tonight in Dallas on the Greetings From Your Hometown Tour.” Cabello herself has achieved significant solo success, releasing 2024’s *C,XOXO* and topping the Hot 100 with hits like “Havana” featuring Young Thug and “Señorita” with Shawn Mendes.
