Iconic Prop Alert: Darth Vader's Lightsaber Sells for Jaw-Dropping Sum

Darth Vader’siconic lightsaber prop has shattered auction records, selling for an astonishing £2.7 million, making it the most expensive Star Wars prop ever sold. This fake weapon, ingeniously crafted from an old British press camera flash handle, far exceeded its pre-sale expectations by £100,000, underscoring its significant historical and cultural value.
The lightsaber achieved legendary status through its prominent role in the 1980 film *The Empire Strikes Back*.It was famously wielded by the Sith Lord Darth Vader during the climactic battle where he severs Luke Skywalker’shand and reveals his shocking paternal connection, uttering the iconic line, “No, I am your father.” Actors David Prowse, who portrayed Darth Vader, and stunt performer Bob Anderson both used the 1ft (32cm) green lightsaber in various scenes.
