Ice Spice Dives into Bikini Bottom: Rapper Makes Voice-Acting Debut in New 'SpongeBob' Film!

Rapper Ice Spice is set to make her voice-acting debut in the highly anticipated film, "The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants," which will be released in theaters via Paramount Pictures on December 19. This venture marks a significant expansion of her artistic endeavors, adding animation to her growing repertoire.
Billboard provided an exclusive first look at Ice Spice’s animated character in Bikini Bottom on Monday, November 17. The character sports her signature orange hairstyle and speaks with her distinct Bronx accent, delivering the memorable line, “Don’t make me call security.” For the 25-year-old artist, who has been a longtime fan of the Nickelodeon series since childhood, this role is a dream come true. She openly shared her belief that she “manifested” this opportunity.
In a featurette for the Derek Drymon-directed film, Ice Spice described the voice-acting process as a “challenge” but ultimately “really fun, new and different,” highlighting the unique experience it offered compared to her previous work. Her involvement goes beyond just voice acting; she also contributed an original song to the movie's soundtrack. The track, titled “Big Guy,” is a kid-friendly bop that arrived last week, created in collaboration with her frequent producer, RIOTUSA.
Ice Spice expressed profound sentiments about her contribution to the soundtrack, stating, “Being part of the SpongeBob soundtrack is such a full-circle moment for me. It’s crazy to see my music in a movie that’s been part of so many people’s childhoods, including mine.” Her enthusiasm underscores the personal significance of this project.
Beyond her role in the SpongeBob movie, Ice Spice has a busy year ahead in acting. In August, she made her general acting debut in Spike Lee’s film "Highest 2 Lowest," where she starred alongside acclaimed actors Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky. These projects collectively demonstrate Ice Spice’s versatile talent and growing presence across different facets of the entertainment industry.
