Hulu Greenlights Ryan Coogler's X-Files Reboot for Full Season

Hulu is bringing back the iconic X-Files series with a reboot led by acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler. The streamer has officially picked up Coogler’s reimagining to series, set to feature Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel in the leading roles as they delve into the world of paranormal investigations.

The premise of the new X-Files series will resonate with long-time fans of the original Fox TV show. The series logline describes Deadwyler and Patel reuniting as “two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents who form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.” This setup echoes the dynamic between the original series’ beloved FBI agents, Fox Mulder (David Duchovny), the fervent believer, and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), the shrewd skeptic, who investigated unexplained cold cases.

Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel are no strangers to working together, having previously starred as an on-screen duo in the critically acclaimed series “Station Eleven.” Their reunion in the X-Files reboot promises to bring a fresh yet familiar dynamic to the classic sci-fi franchise as they navigate mysteries beyond human comprehension under Ryan Coogler’s vision.
