Horror Unveiled: Frail Victims Accuse Police in Shocking Kidney Trafficking Scandal

A significant inquiry by the Parliamentary Committee on Health, led by Chairman James Nyikal, recently convened at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret City, Uasin Gishu County, on Thursday, August 29, 2025. The committee's visit was specifically to oversee and investigate cases involving kidney transplants in various public and private hospitals within the city. During this critical tour, Dr. Philip Cheptinga addressed the committee, shedding light on grave concerns.

Amidst these investigations, top nephrologists revealed a deeply troubling trend: desperate Kenyan youth are actively approaching Level Four and Five hospitals in Eldoret with the intent to sell their kidneys. This alarming situation has seen young individuals from counties across the Rift Valley, Western, and Nyanza regions flocking to Eldoret-based hospitals since the previous year, following persistent allegations of unethical organ donations occurring within the city.

Further compounding the crisis, victims of a multi-million shilling human organ trafficking racket and unethical transplants have come forward, leveling serious accusations against authorities. These victims claim they were abandoned after falling prey to "smooth-talking scammers" involved in the illegal syndicate. They expressed profound disappointment, stating that the National Police Service, whom they had initially viewed as their primary refuge, provided little to no protection against the sophisticated and exploitative network.
