Horror in Plateau: Pastor Found Dead, Colleague Missing After Abduction
Plateau State has been rocked by a wave of coordinated attacks, resulting in at least five deaths, including a pastor abducted and killed. The incidents, reported by Masara Kim, detail the abduction of two clerics and multiple other assaults across various communities, raising concerns about ongoing violence.
At least five individuals have been tragically killed in a series of separate attacks that swept across various communities in Plateau State, Nigeria. Among the victims was Pastor Hills Emmanuel, a Ghanaian-Nigerian cleric and founder of The Wonderful Grace of God Evangelical Ministry in Bokkos, who was abducted while traveling from Jos to Bokkos. These incidents were brought to light by conflict reporter Masara Kim in a post on X on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
Pastor Emmanuel, a former pastor with Dunamis Church, was abducted on Friday, August 28, alongside Pastor Gabriel Joseph Dipak of the Christ Apostolic Church. The two clerics were en route from Jos to Bokkos when their vehicle was reportedly intercepted by armed men. The incident occurred along the Barkin Ladi-Bokkos road, where, according to witnesses cited by Kim, the attackers, identified as Fulani militants, set up a roadblock. This roadblock was ominously placed less than a mile from established military checkpoints on both sides of the road.
The assailants stopped a commercial minivan carrying nine passengers and forcibly removed the two pastors. While the other passengers were eventually released, their phones and cash were seized by the attackers. Police later recovered these stolen items at the scene of the abduction. The search for the abducted pastors ended tragically for Pastor Emmanuel, whose body was discovered early Saturday morning, August 29, near the site of the abduction. As of Saturday afternoon, the whereabouts of Pastor Dipak remained unknown, although reports indicated that his abductors had contacted his family. The specific demands of the abductors had not yet been established at the time of the report.
In addition to this primary incident, four other attacks were recorded in Plateau State around 9 p.m. on Friday. These separate but concurrent incidents resulted in the deaths of three more people and left another injured. Masara Kim detailed these further attacks: a woman was killed in Fang village, Bachi District, Riyom LGA; two people lost their lives in Radura village, Fann District, Barkin Ladi LGA; and at least one person sustained injuries in Chakfem village, Mangu LGA. These multiple attacks highlight a disturbing pattern of violence affecting communities in Plateau State.
