A profound tragedy has cast a shadow over a family in Akure, Ondo State, following the discovery of three deceased siblings at a farm located near the Owena Army Barracks. The victims, identified as 11-year-old twins Joshua and Jacob Jonah, along with their five-year-old sister Blessing Jonah, were found under circumstances that are currently under intense investigation by the Ondo State Police Command.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Abayomi Jimoh, the three children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, September 4, 2026. After a period, they reportedly left the farm with the intention of returning home. However, upon his own return, Mr. Jonah discovered his children were missing, which immediately prompted a search operation.
The search culminated in the heartbreaking discovery of the siblings' bodies on Saturday, September 5, found near the bank of a small river situated within the confines of the farm. The exact circumstances leading to their deaths remain unclear as of the police's initial statements.
In response to this grave incident, the state Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has mandated a comprehensive and thorough investigation.
