Horror in Kwara: Man Held for Gruesome Murder, Dismemberment of Pregnant Sister-in-Law!

A tragic and gruesome incident has sent shockwaves through the Temidire community in Ilorin, Kwara State, following the discovery of the dismembered body of a 39-year-old pregnant woman, Mrs. Esther Enemo, on Thursday, August 21, 2025. The Kwara State Police Command confirmed the incident on Saturday, August 23, initiating a full-scale investigation into the horrific crime.
According to police reports, officers responded to a distress call around 9:00 a.m. on Thursday after a resident reported suspicious activity at the residence of Mr. Ekene Enemo, the victim's husband. Detectives arriving at the scene made the horrifying discovery of Mrs. Esther Enemo’s mutilated body in a bush behind her home. A subsequent search led to the recovery of additional body parts, which had been concealed in a sack and dumped beneath a nearby community bridge. As of the time of reporting, the victim's head was still missing, adding to the macabre nature of the discovery.
The primary suspect, 29-year-old Mr. Sylvester Enemo, who is the younger brother of the victim’s husband, was swiftly arrested in connection with the crime. Eyewitnesses reportedly saw Sylvester Enemo leaving the house shortly before the discovery, carrying a black nylon bag that was observed dripping with blood. A trail from the bag is said to have led directly to the scene where the body was uncovered. The victim's husband, Mr. Ekene Enemo, a trader in agricultural chemicals based in a border town, has also been contacted by the police for questioning and necessary clarification.
The incident has plunged the Temidire Zone 4, Egbejila community into panic, with residents expressing fears of ritual motives and heightened ethnic suspicions within the multi-tribal area. Neighbours indicated that Mrs. Enemo had been alone at home the night before the discovery and was last seen buying bottles of beer and plates of pepper soup, actions some interpreted as suggestive of her expecting a visitor. The couple was also noted to have recently moved into the area.
SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, reiterated the details of the arrest and the ongoing investigation. Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, PSC, MNIPS, has ordered a thorough inquiry, assuring the public that no stone would be left unturned in ensuring that justice is served. The remains of Mrs. Enemo have been evacuated and deposited at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH) morgue for autopsy.
While deeply regretting the unfortunate incident, the Command has appealed to members of the public to remain calm and avoid speculations that could incite fear or tension. The police have also reassured citizens that adequate security strategies have been reinforced across the state to safeguard lives and property, urging residents to cooperate by providing any useful information to aid the ongoing investigations.
