An East Quogue man, Jeremy Allen, 44, stands accused of the torture killing of his friend, Christopher Hahn, 43, of Hampton Bays. Video evidence presented in a recent two-day hearing in Riverhead revealed Allen's highly contradictory statements to Suffolk homicide detectives, detailing how he allegedly discovered a dead man and widespread blood in his home but opted not to call 911. Instead, Allen claimed he began cleaning up the bloody scene, an action that ultimately led to police intervention after he sought help from another man.

The hearing, presided over by State Supreme Court Justice Timothy Mazzei, aimed to determine the admissibility of Allen's statements to police for his upcoming January trial on first- and second-degree murder charges. The video evidence included body camera footage from Southampton police officers and a lengthy interrogation conducted by Suffolk homicide detectives Michael Ronca and Matthew Sagistano.

Prosecutors assert that Allen subjected Hahn to a brutal six-hour beating before placing a bag over his head and fatally stabbing him in the early hours of September 28, 2024. This alleged act, they claim, was captured by Allen's home surveillance system. Despite the grave allegations, defense attorney Colin Astarita stated he does not intend to move to suppress any of Allen's statements.
