Horror in Ashton-under-Lyne: Bar Attack Triggers Murder Investigation

A murder investigation has been launched by Greater Manchester Police following the death of a man in a "violent and shocking" early hours attack at a bar in Ashton-under-Lyne town centre. Officers were called to the establishment, formerly known as Olivers Bar and now operating as Blues Cabaret and Karaoke Bar on Bow Street, today (July 11) at approximately 2:40 AM. They discovered a man in his early 30s suffering from serious injuries, who tragically died at the scene despite the immediate provision of first aid and CPR.

The deceased has not yet been formally identified, but his believed family has been informed and is receiving support from specialist officers. Police confirmed that a 36-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody, undergoing interviews with detectives as the investigation progresses at a rapid pace to establish the full circumstances of the incident.

Detective Superintendent Ian McNabb of GMP described the attack as violent and shocking, emphasizing that their thoughts remain with the victim's family. He reassured the community that authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, posing no wider threat to the public.
