The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) are putting the finishing touches on their rehearsals for the national event.

The stadium, recently transformed into a modern facility, now stands ready to host one of the most significant patriotic celebrations of the year.

Madaraka Day marks Kenya’s attainment of self-rule, and this year’s theme, "Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs", reflects the country’s ambitions to harness maritime resources for sustainable growth.

On Monday, May 26, the KDF put up a colourful show as they staged their final rehearsal ahead of the national fete.

The stadium grounds buzzed with activity as KDF personnel, dressed in their ceremonial uniforms, moved with precision, rehearsing every detail of the upcoming parade.

The air was filled with the steady rhythm of marching boots on tarmac, punctuated by the sharp commands of drill sergeants ensuring flawless execution.

At the heart of the ceremony was Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri, who joined in the parade.

However, Kahariri played the part of the head of state in the rehearsal, inspecting the guard of honour riding in the presidential Command In Chief (CIC) vehicle.

General Kahariri’s inspection was meticulous, slowly walking past the line of soldiers standing at attention.

Governor Gladys Wanga, alongside national and county leaders, including Cabinet Secretaries Salim Mvurya and Opiyo Wandayi, watched the proceedings closely.

The National Celebrations Steering Committee, led by Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, joined the CDF in overseeing the rehearsals.

Paratroopers also showed off some of their skills, jumping from the skies and gliding into the stadium to the excitement of those present.

The rehearsal wasn’t limited to foot drills as servicemen and women drawn from different disciplines joined in the activities.
