Hip-Hop Firestorm: 21 Savage Demands End to Young Thug & Gunna Feud

21 Savage has taken on the role of peacemaker within the hip-hop community, actively seeking to resolve prominent feuds among central figures. On Wednesday, December 17, he used the platform X (formerly Twitter) to address several ongoing conflicts, notably calling for Young Thug and Gunna to reconcile their differences, emphasizing their mutual affection despite recent tensions.
The long-standing discord between Gunna and Young Thug originated from the YSL RICO trial. In December 2022, Gunna accepted an Alford plea deal, which led Young Thug to suspect that his mentee had cooperated with authorities to secure a more lenient sentence. Young Thug himself later reached a plea deal in October 2024, leading to his release from jail. Since their respective releases, communication between the duo has been minimal, and they have not collaborated on any new music. 21 Savage directly appealed to them, stating, "Yall n---s fix that sh-t yall love each other n---a you knew gunna wasn’t no gangster when he told the first time and we swept it under the rug for you you know he wasn’t tryna leave you to hang n---a f–k the streets we ain’t get sh-t but trauma from that sh-t." He also reflected on past efforts, noting, "Last year I was the realest n---a for tryna stop thug from exposing gunna now im fake lol."
Beyond Young Thug and Gunna, 21 Savage also turned his attention to Lil Baby, attempting to smooth over issues involving Baby, Thug, and Gunna. He candidly wrote to Lil Baby, acknowledging, "You one of the realest young n---s out this sh-t admit slime was moving the goal post and we was standing behind him cuz we love him my brother."
In a broader effort to restore unity within the Atlanta music scene, 21 Savage also made an attempt to reunite the Migos. He revealed that he had initiated a group text with Offset and Quavo, urging them to resolve their disputes before their feud escalated further. He publicly challenged them, stating, "Yall n---s tell the world I put yall on group text and told yall squash it before it even got far n---a if yall was still together yall would be unstoppable."
These mediating efforts by 21 Savage resonate deeply with the themes explored in his new album, "What Happened to the Streets?", which arrived on Friday, December 12. The project delves into the Atlanta street code, a set of principles 21 Savage was raised on, and reflects his belief that these codes have significantly eroded over recent years, leading to the kind of internal conflicts he is now striving to mend.
