High-Profile Defection Rocks PDP: Ex-Acting Secretary Quits, Citing 'Lost Moral Compass'

Udeh Okoye, the former acting National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has formally resigned from the party, citing a profound loss of what he described as the party’s “moral compass and ideological direction.” This significant departure was communicated in a resignation letter dated October 13, 2025, and addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman in Agbogugu, Awgu Local Government Area of Enugu State. Okoye stated that his decision was the result of “deep reflection and careful consideration,” emphasizing that it “did not come lightly.”

Okoye, a prominent figure within the party, had previously served in various capacities, including as a member of the Enugu State House of Assembly and the PDP National Youth Leader before his elevation to National Secretary. He expressed his gratitude to the party, its leaders, and members at all levels for providing him with invaluable opportunities to contest and serve. His profound appreciation for these platforms was clearly articulated in his resignation letter.

However, his gratitude was tempered by deep-seated concerns regarding the party’s current trajectory. The former scribe lamented that the PDP had significantly deviated from the core principles of unity, justice, and equity upon which it was initially founded. He observed with
