Henry Cavill Unleashed: First Look at the 'Highlander' Reboot!

Leading star Henry Cavill recently took to his personal Instagram to unveil the first two official images from his much-anticipated and long-gestating Highlander reboot, which is now officially in production. Cavill shared the new photos with the caption: “Happy First Look for Highlander! This has been quite the journey for me, which I’ll tell you all about when the time is right, but it’s a special moment to be able to share this. I hope you enjoy. #Highlander”.
The Highlander reboot, an adventure, action, and fantasy film, has been in development since 2021, when it was initially announced with Chad Stahelski, known for his work on John Wick, set to direct. Despite facing numerous setbacks over the past few years, the project gained significant momentum once casting commenced in early 2025. The film is being produced by Neal H. Moritz, with Ryan J. Condal, Michael Finch, and Kerry Williamson credited as writers for the franchise installment.
An impressive ensemble cast has been assembled for the reboot. Henry Cavill will star as Connor MacLeod. Collider was the first to report Russell Crowe's involvement, who has since confirmed he will portray Juan Sánchez-Villalobos Ramírez, a role famously played by the late Sean Connery in the 1986 original. Crowe has also indicated he will adopt a Spanish accent for the character. Dave Bautista has also joined the cast, having previously spoken about his intensive sword training for the film. MCU veteran Karen Gillan is set to appear as Heather, alongside Jeremy Irons, Marisa Abela, Djimon Hounsou, Kevin McKidd, and WWE star Drew McIntyre. While production is underway, an official release date for the Highlander reboot has not yet been announced.
In other news regarding Henry Cavill's cinematic endeavors, his next movie, In The Grey, is slated for a much sooner release. Black Bear recently announced that the film will hit theaters on April 10. Directed by Guy Ritchie, this action thriller also stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Eiza González. Production for In The Grey concluded back in 2023, but its release faced several delays before being temporarily removed from the calendar last year. Now back on track, the film follows a group of elite operatives embarking on a heist mission that would be a perilous undertaking for anyone else.
